Earlier, we warned you about a fake airdrops where scammers uses people’s greed as a way to steal funds from crypto wallets.
Today we will tell you about another type of fraud related with the substitution of recipient addresses:
Scammer do everything for installing a special malware on your device (mainly Windows). This program is waiting for a moment when you send cryptocurrency on other address
When you copy the blockchain address the malware replaces the recipient’s address in the clipboard with the address of a scammer
When you create a transaction, you paste scammer’s address into the “recipient” line and confirm the transaction
Your cryptocurrency is sent to the scammer’s wallet and not to the address you wanted to send the crypto
Before sending funds, always check out the correctness of the entered data in the transaction.
Even experienced users have problems with it when they lose their vigilance because of routine copy-paste actions.
